It will usually take around 3-4 months for a micro dermal implant to fully heal. Do not attempt to change the jewellery top before this period. Never touch your piercing unless you've washed your hands!

Aftercare is simple, the area needs cleaning with a very mild anti bacterial soap twice daily. Something like navel wash is ideal. With clean hands, apply a little anti bacterial solution to the palm of your hand, mix with a little water into a thick lather, gently apply the lather around the area for a few moments, then rinse off with warm water and gently pat dry with a soft tissue.

Soaking the area twice weekly with salt water solution is highly beneficial, as the area is prone to slight swelling and can sometimes suffer from drainage problems, to do this, mix a quarter of a teaspoon of sea/rock salt with 8fl oz (half a pint) of boiled water, let dissolve and cool a little so that you do not scald yourself. Submerge a clean cotton wool pad or kitchen roll in solution, squeeze off excess water and apply to the area until temperature dissipates. N.B. should only be done twice weekly, as prolonged usage of salt water can dry out the tissue around the micro dermal implant.

It is common for the crust to collect under the disc. This can be difficult to remove. A good tip is to use super floss ( thick dental floss), submerge the piercing in warm water for around 3 minutes then slide the floss underneath and using a gentle seesaw action loosen crust gently. If area is crusted heavily you may need to soak area for a little longer.

You should check your jewellery is secure regulary, to do this turn the disk gently clockwise until there is no resistance. In the unlikely event the disk comes off, please return to the studio to have a new one fitted.
